Wellness

Committed to the overall health and wellness of students, staff, and the community!

Wellness Policy

The purpose of the School Board Policy 533 - Wellness Policy is to promote school wellness, reduce childhood obesity, and ensure that school meals and other food and beverages sold and otherwise made available on the school campus during the school day are consistent with the applicable local, state, and federal standards.

Wellness Committee

WBLAS created a district-wide Wellness Committee that is committed to the health and wellness of its students, teachers, and staff. The committee is composed of staff wellness champions from each school, administrators, students, community members and representatives from BearPower. The committee will work together to meet four times each year to discuss and plan how schools can further follow the district's wellness policy and in turn accomplish its goal of ensuring a school environment that promotes and protects students' health, well-being and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.

The Wellness Committee is open to the general public and school community (including parents, students, teachers, school health professionals, the school board and school administrators). Stakeholders are able to participate in wellness implementation throughout WBLAS. Additionally, the Wellness Committee will collaborate to develop, renew, assess ad update the School Wellness Policy at least every three years or as needed.
